You do not have to wait for an agent to decide what comes next. From the Dashboard you can file a request for a specific topic and let the connected agent draft it.
Filing a request
- On the Dashboard home page, open Ask the agent for an assignment.
- Pick the Student and the Subject.
- Enter the Topic, for example "equivalent fractions". Keep it short and concrete. Up to 160 characters.
- Add Notes if you want to steer the draft: difficulty, number of exercises, what the student struggled with last time. Up to 2000 characters.
- Choose File request.
The request is recorded and shows on the Dashboard as open. Only a parent of the family can file requests.
What happens next
A connected agent sees open requests through its list_pending_assignment_requests tool and drafts an assignment for it. When it does, the draft appears in your Approval queue like any other draft, and you receive an email: "The agent drafted the assignment you asked for". Nothing is student-visible until you approve it.
Agents only act when they run. If your agent is a desktop tool such as Cursor or Claude Desktop, the request waits until you next use it and ask it to check Tutosaic.
Cancelling a request
Open the request on the Dashboard and choose Cancel. The agent stops seeing it. Cancelled requests stay in the timeline as "Parent cancelled their request".
Requests in the weekly digest
Requests that have not been fulfilled by Monday are listed in the weekly digest as open assignment requests, so a forgotten one does not stay forgotten.
No agent connected yet
Requests need an agent to fulfil them. Connect one from Family → Agents first. See "Connecting an agent to Tutosaic" in the AI agents collection.
