When a student submits an assignment from the Student app, it comes to you for correction. The correction is what the student sees next, and the weak topics you tag are what future drafts build on.

When a submission arrives

You receive an email: "Student submitted title for review", with a Review submission button. The assignment also moves to Submitted in Today and in the student's stats. You can turn these emails off from Settings → Profile.

Opening the correction page

Click the assignment in Today, on the student's page, or on the subject page, then Correct submission. The page shows:

  • Instructions, so you can check the work against what was asked.
  • Student submission: the photos the student uploaded, in order, and any note they typed. Click a photo to open it full size.
  • Submitted date and the current status.

Filling in the correction

  1. Grade (0–100). A whole number.
  2. Feedback for the student. This is shown to the student in the app. Write to them, not about them.
  3. Weak topics (comma-separated). Short labels for what needs more practice, for example "equivalent fractions, simplifying". These feed the weak-topic panels and the next drafts. Use the same wording each time so the counts add up.
  4. Choose Mark as corrected.

The assignment moves to Corrected. The student sees "Correction ready" in their inbox, with your feedback. If the student's device has push notifications on for corrections, it is notified.

Suggestions from an agent

If a connected agent suggested a correction, the page shows it above the form with its proposed score, feedback and weak topics. Choose Use this suggestion to copy it into the form and adjust it, or Dismiss suggestion. See "Suggested corrections and paired follow-ups".

Deleting an assignment

The correction page has Delete assignment at the bottom. This removes the assignment and its submission for good, including from the student's app. Use it for assignments approved by mistake. Deleting is not reversible.

Where corrections show up afterwards

  • The student's timeline and the subject timeline record the correction.
  • Family → Activity logs it as "Parent marked an assignment corrected".
  • The weekly digest counts it under corrections shipped.
  • Weak topics appear on the Dashboard, on the subject page, on the weak topic page and in the student's Review tab in the app.
