A family is not one account. You can invite other adults to it, each with a role. Invitations are managed from Family → Family and only a parent can send, resend or revoke them.
Roles
- Parent runs the family: approves drafts, corrects submissions, files assignment requests, manages students, subjects, devices, agents and these settings.
- Guardian is for another adult who follows the student's progress.
- Tutor is for a human tutor or teacher who works with the student.
A family must always have at least one parent. You cannot remove the last one.
Sending an invitation
- Open Family → Family and find Invite a member.
- Enter the person's email and pick a role.
- Choose Send invitation.
The person receives an email with an Accept invitation button. The invitation is tied to that email address and expires after 14 days. Until it is accepted it is listed under Pending invitations with the role it was sent with.
What the invitee sees
- With an existing Tutosaic account, they sign in and are added to the family.
- Without one, the link takes them to registration and the new account is linked to the family straight away. They do not need a waitlist invite.
An email that is already a member of the family, or already has a pending invitation, cannot be invited again.
Resending and revoking
Under Pending invitations, choose Resend to send the email again with the same link, or Revoke to cancel it. A revoked link stops working immediately.
Removing a member
The members list shows each person with their role. Choose Remove next to a member to detach them from the family. Their account continues to exist; it just no longer sees this family. If they are the only parent, Tutosaic refuses and asks you to add another parent first.
