Subjects are how work is organised. Every assignment belongs to a subject, and each subject carries a list of curriculum topics that agents use to decide what to draft next.
Creating a subject
Open Subjects in the sidebar and choose Add subject:
- Subject name, for example "Mathematics". Up to 120 characters.
- Colour, or leave it on Auto (from name). The colour is the dot that marks the subject across the Dashboard and in the Student app.
- School year, optional. The same subject name can exist once per school year, so "Mathematics · Year 7" and "Mathematics · Year 8" can live side by side. Two subjects with the same name and the same year are not allowed.
Only a parent of the family can create or edit subjects. Connected agents can also create subjects through their create_subject tool.
The subject page
- Curriculum lists the topics for this subject. Add one with Add topic: a name such as "Linear equations" and an optional description. Reorder with Move up and Move down. Agents read this list and can replace it wholesale with their
replace_subject_topicstool, so keep it current. - Assignments grouped by state: pending drafts, waiting for you, in flight, corrected.
- Timeline of everything that happened in this subject.
- Weak-topic frequency: how often each weak topic was tagged on corrections in this subject.
Editing a subject
Choose Edit subject on the subject page to change the name, colour or school year. Renaming keeps the subject's address in the Dashboard stable, so links you saved still work.
Archiving
Choose Archive subject when a subject is finished, for example at the end of a school year. An archived subject keeps its history but stops appearing in pickers for new assignments and requests. Use Restore to bring it back.
Subjects and agents
When an agent drafts an assignment it names the subject. Drafts for a subject that does not exist yet are rejected, so create subjects before you connect an agent, or let the agent create them and review the result under Subjects.
