This is what the student sees and does in the Tutosaic Student app, from a new assignment to reading the correction. It is useful to walk through it with the student the first time.
The inbox
The Inbox tab lists every assignment a parent has approved, newest due date first. Each card shows the title, the subject dot, the status label and the due date. Pull down to refresh. The inbox is kept on the device, so it still opens without a connection.
Two quiet chips can appear at the top: the number of areas to revise (weak topics) and the number of submissions waiting to upload.
Opening an assignment
Tapping a card opens the assignment. The first time the student opens it, its status changes from New to In progress, and the Dashboard shows it as Opened. The page shows the instructions and, when the assignment came with a worksheet, a PDF the student can open. If the assignment is a follow-up to an earlier correction, it says which one it continues.
Submitting
- Tap the submit action on the assignment.
- Add photos of the work: take them with the camera, one page at a time, or pick them from the library. Up to 10 photos per submission, each up to 5 MB, in JPEG, PNG, HEIC or WebP.
- Optionally type a note.
- Tap submit. A progress bar shows the upload.
At least one photo or a note is required. Once uploaded, the status becomes Waiting for correction, and the parent receives an email.
No connection
If the upload fails because the device is offline, the submission is queued on the device and retried automatically when the app returns to the foreground or the connection comes back. The inbox shows how many are queued. The student can also retry by hand. Nothing needs to be re-photographed.
Reading the correction
When a parent marks the assignment corrected, the status becomes Correction ready and, if the parent turned it on, the device gets a push notification. Opening the assignment shows the score and the parent's feedback. If the parent approved a follow-up assignment at the same time, it appears in the inbox as a new card.
The Review tab
The Review tab lists the student's weak topics, the ones tagged on corrected assignments. It is the short list of what to revise before the next test.
The Profile tab
Shows the student's name and the sign-out action. Signing out unpairs the device; pair again with a new code from the Dashboard.
Things the student cannot do
The app has no messaging, no way to see other students, and no way to change assignments. It shows approved work and takes submissions. Everything else happens in the parent Dashboard.
